The action is in Florida now

After months of painting, cleaning, packing that we thought would never end, the old homestead is officially for sale.  Rumor has it the cabin will be done before the end of March.  Let's hope the spring buyers are out in force, making two mortgage payments is not fun!

Finally - we have a house!!!!

Well after weeks of rain that wouldn't end we have instant house in a 3 day period.

Thursday Feb 7th - Superior Walls installed the basement

Friday morning Feb 8th, the action starts early.  First piece of the house arrives around 9am, followed rapidly by the first problem - it can't make the turn at the bottom of the drive.  The wonderful team at Blueridge Log Cabins has seen this before, Mike Poteat you are THE MAN - they jack up the trailer and swing the rear end over about 8' then we are off and running.

After a brief heart seizure in the middle of the hill when the dozer got suck in the mud, the winch came to the rescue and the back of the house is up the hill and hooked to the crane.

By 11am we have the kitchen, guest room and bath and master bath set.  The next section is already waiting at the bottom of the drive to repeat the process.

On to the next section, dining room, staircase and master bedroom coming through!!

It's about 1pm now, ready to bring up the living room, finally a small piece that doesn't have to be jacked around the corner.

Apparently the final piece is where everyone holds their breath, due to the weight of the loft office on one end and the open roof on the other, the physics of the keeping this stable on the crane is pretty intense!

4pm, lifting the A-frame room over the living room.

The crew is staying behind to put in all the remaining windows but the Baker's are hitting the road to beat a predicted ice storm.  One last look at what will be the view to hold us over a few more weeks:
